Gratitude and Reflections on 2024
Dear friend,
As the year draws to a close, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for making 2024 a remarkable year for Science & Wisdom LIVE. This year, we were honoured to host incredible speakers who shared their time, knowledge, and insights with our growing community. Thank you to Dr. Elena Antonova, Yangten Rinpoche, Thomas Metzinger, and Geshe Tenzin Namdak, whose contributions enriched our understanding of consciousness, no-self, and secular spirituality. These thought-provoking dialogues have sparked meaningful conversations that continue to inspire us all.
We are also deeply grateful to our dedicated partners, volunteers, and team members at Science & Wisdom LIVE and Jamyang London Buddhist Centre. In November, we organised our largest online event to date with partners including Lama Tzong Khapa Institute, Mind Science Academy, Nagarjuna Tibetan Buddhism Studies Centre Madrid, FDCW – Foundation for Developing Compassion and Wisdom and A Skeptic’s Path to Enlightenment.
Collaborating with such organisations allows us to reach wider audiences and offer translations in Spanish and Italian, making our content accessible to more people around the world. If your organisation would like to partner with us for future events please don’t hesitate to contact us at hello@sciwizlive.com
Thanks to your support, we’ve expanded our offerings this year, including events, courses, podcasts, videos, and newsletters. Our community continues to grow across platforms:
- Newsletter subscribers: +30%
- E-learning students: +28%
- YouTube subscribers: +17%
- Facebook: +14%
- Instagram: +10%
With a newsletter open rate of 52% (well above industry averages), your engagement shows how much you value the content we create. If you have feedback, we’d love to hear from you—we’re always looking to improve.
Changes in our Team
This year, our team saw some changes. Sajda Van Der Leeuw went on maternity leave, and we welcomed Fabiana Lotito as maternity cover. Fabiana, the Communications Manager for Jamyang Buddhist Centre for seven years, brought her expertise and dedication to SciWiz, making a significant impact during her time with us. We also welcomed Mikkel B. Kristiansen as our new Project Director, bringing over two decades of experience in psychology, education, and contemplative science. As Sajda returns in March, we bid farewell to Fabiana, whose enthusiasm, reliability, and positive presence have left a lasting impression. We wish her all the best in her new role starting in January!
Your Voice Matters
This year, we’ve engaged with you more deeply through surveys and focus groups. A remarkable 127 of you responded to our survey, and 14 participated in focus groups, sharing your insights and aspirations. Here’s what we’ve learned:
- You’re looking for a community of peers to explore life’s deeper questions.
- The science of consciousness is the topic of greatest interest.
- You appreciate high-quality content but value more accessible, interactive formats.
Exciting Plans for 2025
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new e-learning course, Buddhism and the Science of Consciousness, in May 2025. Featuring leading experts like Prof. Anil Seth, Prof. John Vervaeke, Geshe Tenzin Namdak, Dr. Elena Antonova, Yangten Rinpoche and Dr. Marjorie Woollacott. This course will combine cutting-edge research with contemplative practices. The launch will include a hybrid event at Jamyang Buddhist Centre
Register your interest
We are also revising our first E-learning course Buddhism and Quantum Physics based on your feedback. The updated course, with bite-sized content, practical tools, and more opportunities for interaction, will relaunch in September alongside a special event in London.
