How to order your ticket on Eventbrite

Science & Wisdom LIVE distributes tickets via Eventbrite. If you haven’t used this platform before, this might be confusing. Here’s a quick step by step explanation on how to order a ticket via Eventbrite.

PLEASE NOTE: You DO NOT need PayPal to complete the payment. You can choose the option ‘Debit or CreditCard’ (see step 12 below).

1- Go to our website: www.sciwizlive.com

2- Click on the tab ‘Events’

3- Select the talk or event you’d like tickets for.

4- Click on ‘Reserve your Tickets’

5- This opens a pop up window, to redirect you to our Eventbrite page

6- On the Eventbrite page of the specific event, click on ‘Tickets’

7- Click on the drop-down screen to select the number of tickets

8- Click on ‘Checkout’

9- In the next screen, fill out your personal information

10- Click on ‘Place order’

11- This opens a pop-up window, which redirects you to PayPal. No worries! You do not need to have an account on PayPal to be able to pay via their website.

12- Either login to PayPal (if you have a PayPal account), OR click on ‘Pay by debit or credit card’, all the way below.

13- Complete your payment, and you’re all set!

14- Check that you’ve received the confirmation email. If not, check your spam folder first! If it’s not there either, send an email to hello@sciwizlive.com.

How to use a ‘promo code’ (discount code) to order a ticket on Eventbrite

We sometimes give out a so called ‘promo code’ for use on Eventbrite, which allows one to buy a discounted or free ticket. To use your promo code in ordering your ticket with discount, please do the following:

1- Follow steps 1-6, as explained on this page under: ‘How to order your ticket on Eventbrite’.

2- All the way at the top, there’s a short blue text that reads: ‘Enter promo code’.

3- Click on this text, which opens up a text box, where you can type your promo code in (just type the full word, words or sentence that you’ve been sent, exactly as in the original – don’t forget to use capital letters or spaces if these are there in the original word/text)

4- Then – AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT – click on ‘apply’ at the end of the text box. Don’t forget this, as otherwise the discount is not added to your ticket.

5- If you’ve done this correctly, you should get a notification on top of the screen saying something like: ‘… applied. A 50.00% discount is available.’

Where the three dots are, the promo code that you’ve used is visible. If this is the wrong promo code, click on ‘remove’ and then try again.

6- Follow steps 7-14, as explained on this page under: ‘How to order your ticket on Eventbrite’.

How to listen to our podcasts on your mobile phone

Science & Wisdom LIVE produces podcasts and videos. A podcast is an audio recording that you can listen to: either on your phone or on your PC/laptop. For all our videos, you can simply go to our website to watch them, or to our YouTube channel (search for: ‘Science & Wisdom LIVE’ and click on the first entry in the list).

To listen to our podcast, you can simply go to our website and click on the tab ‘podcast’, or, to install a podcast player on your phone, follow these steps:

1- Select which podcast player you’d prefer (there are many, such as Podbean, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc.)

2- Install this podcast player on your mobile phone as an app, as you’d install any other app.

3- When you’ve installed the app, simply search for ‘Science & Wisdom LIVE’ and click on ‘Follow’ or ‘Add as Favourite’.

Is Science & Wisdom LIVE a faith-based organisation?

No. Science & Wisdom LIVE is a project of Jamyang London Buddhist Centre, but is meant to operate on an interfaith and/or secular basis, bringing scientists in conversation with contemplative practitioners of all backgrounds and faiths (or non-faith). Although the principles of Science & Wisdom LIVE are based on the concept of ‘universal education’, with the aim to benefit every human being (which is closely aligned to many Buddhist principles), our programme tries to reflect our commitment to diversity and an interfaith and/or secular public.

How will my donation be spend?

100% of all donations to Science & Wisdom LIVE will be used towards the running of the project, so as to enable us to continue delivering our programme free of charge to the larger public. Although there is often a small ticket fee for our events, these monies are solely used to cover the operating costs of Science & Wisdom LIVE and our speaker fees. All proceedings – in podcast and video format – are, however, free of charge available to the public.

Is Science & Wisdom LIVE a charity or a profit-making organisation?

Science & Wisdom LIVE is neither a charity, nor a profit-making organisation. Science & Wisdom LIVE is a project of Jamyang Buddhist Centre London, which is a registered UK charity (charity nr. 1106802). We’re not an independent operating entity, and share our finances with Jamyang Buddhist Centre London.
